Winners of the I Muslim Magomaev International Vocalists Contest announced

On 23 and 24 October 2010 the concert hall of Crocus City Hall hosted the I M. Magomaev International Vocalists Contest that attracted vocalists from Europe and ex USSR countries.
Following the results of selection that was made on the basis of audio and video records the selection board admitted 14 contenders, who demonstrated their skill of both classic opera and popular repertoire, to the final round of the contest.
There were two rounds of the contest. During the first round the contenders performed classic and pop pieces from the world music treasury, and during the second round they performed only Muslim Magomaev’s repertoire. International jury panel included Tamara Sinyavskaya, professor, the People’s Artist of the USSR, principal singer of the Bolshoi Theatre, Elena Obraztsova, the People’s Artist of the USSR, principal singer of the Bolshoi Theatre, Tamara Gverdziteli, the People’s Artist of Russia and Georgia, singer and composer, Yury Bashmet, the People’s Artist of Russia, professor and musician, Alexei Rybnikov, the People’s Artist of Russia and composer, composer Michel Legrand, Farhad Badalbeily, the People’s Artist of the USSR, professor, director of Baku music arts academy.
The vote resulted in awarding of Ilya Silchukov (Belarus) and Javid Samedov (Azerbaijan) with diplomas of the first prize winners in the amount of 15 thousand dollars. Azerbaijan Samir Jafarov earned the diploma of the second prize winner and 10 thousand dollars. Vocalists Dmitry Trifonov (Russia) and Oksana Volkova (Belarus) were awarded with the third prize winner diplomas in the amount of 5 thousand dollars.
