We are no longer accepting your applications for the Second International Muslim Magomaev Vocalist Contest

On the eve of the May holidays we finished accepting applications for participation in the Second International Muslim Magomaev Vocalist Contest, which will be held in Moscow on 20 and 21 of October 2012 on the stage of Crocus City Hall; it will be dedicated to the 70th anniversary of the birth of the great singer. The uniqueness of the competition that was established by The Muslim Magomaev Musical and Cultural Heritage Fund is that the singers have to show their talent and skill in the performance of both classical and pop repertoire.

The jury of the II International contest will consist of the leading opera and pop singers, musical theater directors, as well as composers and musicians. The jury will be headed by People's Artist of USSR, the soloist of the Bolshoi Theatre, Professor Tamara Sinyavskaya. The contest will be held in two rounds and will be covered by Russian and foreign media.

According to the chairman of the jury Tamara Sinyavskaya, this year's Muslim Magomaev international contest was truly international; in fact talented vocalists from 18 countries worldwide filed an application for participation. The lead number of applications, of course, is representatives of Russia, followed by representatives of Ukraine, Belarus, Uzbekistan, Azerbaijan, Mongolia, Kazakhstan, Germany, North Korea, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, UK, Kazakhstan, Georgia, Armenia, Iran, Moldova and the United States.

"We are moving to the next level, the interest in the contest is growing very fast, people find out about the contest not only in the CIS countries, but throughout the world. We received over 200 applications from truly talented and exciting vocalists. We have a difficult choice to make - because from a huge number of applicants we need to choose only 15 vocalists, who will participate in this competition," said Tamara Sinyavskaya.

A preliminary elimination round is going to last until May 15, the participants (there will be only 15 people left) will be announced at the first official press conference of the contest that will be held on May 24, ITAR-TASS reported.
